The geographic scope of the Regional Center is centered on closed U.S. military bases in California, hence the acronym, 'CMB' (California Military Base). There are six former military bases located in the area known as the “Inland Empire” in Southern California and the County of Sacramento in Northern California: George AFB, Norton AFB, March AFB, McClellan AFB, the Sacramento Army Depot and the Mather AFB. CMB’s specific focus is those former base areas located in these two regions that have been adversely affected and impacted with high unemployment by the BRAC closures.
